Raju Bista Meets Defence Minister regarding GRD/GRO Shifting Issue

Amidst reports of the Gorkha Recruitment Depot and Gorkha Record Office being shifted out of Darjeeling, and concerns regarding the same shared to us by our alliance partners GJM and GNLF, and also other political parties in the region, today Darjeeling MP Raju Bista met with the Hon’ble Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and apprised him of the situation, seeking his intervention.

The MP impressed upon the Defence Minister how GRD was an important part of the Gorkha heritage, and how our people related to it. He also informed the Defence Minister about the technical significance of having the GRD in Darjeeling, and how it has catered to generations of Gorkha soldiers in the Indian Army. The Defence Minister has assured that he will investigate the matter at the earliest.
