The Central Government has approved Rs. 150 under Phase-III of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY Scheme) for the construction of 255 bedded Super Specialty Block (SSB) having 8 departments – Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Pediatric Surgery, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Burns Ward, and Urology.
Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, furbished the details in her response to Darjeeling MP Raju Bista’s query regarding the implementation of Central Government Schemes like PMSSY Scheme, NHRM, and NHM in West Bengal, particularly in the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
The Minister in her response stated that the Central Govt has already released an amount of Rs.106.21 crores of its share for the project. With the healthcare infrastructure in North Bengal being in a deplorable state, such a move by the centre to strengthen the largest medical facility in place that caters its services to a large population across the region reinforces the faith of the people in the Government.
