‘Rashtriya Sanskritik Mahotsav’ at Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling

I thank Hon’ble Governor H.E Jagdeep Dhankar ji and Hon’ble First lady of Bengal Smt. Sudesh Dhankar ji for their gracious presence at the concluding ceremony of the 3-day long ‘Rashtriya Sanskritik Mahotsav’ organized by the Ministry of Culture at Raj Bhawan in Darjeeling.

In our great nation where every state, every region have their own language, it is because of the diversity of the language, literature, culture, and traditions that helps North Bengal region stand out with a distinct identity across our country. Sadly though, despite being culturally so diverse and rich, our region never got to be highlighted nationally. However, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Hon’ble Minister for Tourism and Culture (IC) Prahlad Patel ji, finally the unique blend of culture and traditions from North Bengal and North Eastern region of our country also got to be showcased nationally through the National Cultural Festival held at Darjeeling.

Although this is for the first time that our hills hosted a National Festival, but it is just a beginning. Going forward, I will attempt to organize more such events in our region, which will attract artists and performers from all over the world.

Our language, literature, culture and traditions are our roots and I request everyone to kindly work collectively towards promoting and propagating our distinct heritage. Especially, I appeal to our youths, the duty of keeping our culture alive now rests with us. I request you all to join hands with me to strengthen our cultural roots, so that together we can ensure a bright future for our region and our people.

I take this moment to thank Sh. Prahlad ji and officials of his Ministry for making this event a grand success.

I also thank all the artists who performed and volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make the Rashtriya Sanskritik Mahotsav successful. Last but not the least, I thank the beautiful people of Darjeeling region for participating in this event whole heartedly.
